Safety Engineer (m/f)

As Safety Engineer you are responsible for:
  • Carrying out the following:
    • Studies within the scope of safety and protection against ionising radiation at SCKoCEN,
    • Safety studies and evaluations concerning the theoretical and practical aspects of the operation of the nuclear installations at SCKoCEN,
    • Safety studies commissioned by the government and external customers;
  • Project coordination and follow-up of the SCKoCEN Periodic Safety Review, including managing the project teams, drawing up budget estimates and reporting to the Management Committee and the safety authorities.
  • Contributing to the periodic revaluations of the safety files of existing (nuclear) installations.
  • Monitoring the nuclear and radiological safety of the BR1 and VENUS installations, as site inspector.
  • Preparing and supervising inspections by the nuclear safety authorities.
  • Civil engineering diploma or Master’s in engineering sciences, physics or PhD in science, specialising in physics;
  • Additional Master’s in Nuclear Engineering course or a willingness to take this course;
  • Willingness to follow additional studies in the field of safety;
  • Good knowledge of IT applications;
  • Adapted knowledge of French and English is required.
