As Safety Engineer you are responsible for:
- Carrying out the following:
- Studies within the scope of safety and protection against ionising radiation at SCKoCEN,
- Safety studies and evaluations concerning the theoretical and practical aspects of the operation of the nuclear installations at SCKoCEN,
- Safety studies commissioned by the government and external customers;
- Project coordination and follow-up of the SCKoCEN Periodic Safety Review, including managing the project teams, drawing up budget estimates and reporting to the Management Committee and the safety authorities.
- Contributing to the periodic revaluations of the safety files of existing (nuclear) installations.
- Monitoring the nuclear and radiological safety of the BR1 and VENUS installations, as site inspector.
- Preparing and supervising inspections by the nuclear safety authorities.
- Civil engineering diploma or Master’s in engineering sciences, physics or PhD in science, specialising in physics;
- Additional Master’s in Nuclear Engineering course or a willingness to take this course;
- Willingness to follow additional studies in the field of safety;
- Good knowledge of IT applications;
- Adapted knowledge of French and English is required.
